I've recently bought a couple of low relief warehouses on a well known internet auction site. They are card and scratch built so I only ordered one at first but when it arrived on Tuesday I was very pleased with the standard and had no hesitation in ordering a second one, which arrived this morning.
Posted Image
They are very well made with good clean cuts and square corners, what really impressed me is the texturing on the corrugated 'steel' upper sections of the warehouses.

This kind of industrial building can be seen on both sides of the Atlantic so I have no hesitation using these warehouses on an American layout even though they are primarily made for the British market.

Note that the long thin building has cut-outs for doors. I emailed the seller to ask if he could supply this building without doors because it will be close to the running line and he said he had one in stock which would fit my needs, even though it was not listed on Ebay at the time. The models are reasonably priced, especially given the standard of modelling, and I would certainly recommend both the models and the standard of customer service too.

The link below will take you to the maker's listing on Ebay, at the time of writing this there are only N scale models listed but I'm led to understand that he also makes models in OO scale as well.

They look great Bob - the door-less on could even possibly double as the back of a lower league football stand.

If you contact the seller via Ebay he'll no doubt let you know if he has any in stock or when he's planning on making some more. I was pleasantly surprised to get the second building so quickly because it was not listed and I only asked on the off chance that he'd make one to order.

They look really good, and very versatile for any layout.

It was that level of customer service that prompted me to do a review of the buildings.

:)

The acid test is now taking place, I've just glued my two down on Sand Creek, one is in the yard so completely dry but the other has grass around the base. I'll let you know how it goes on when the diluted PVA has set.

I'm certainly going to be ordering from him in the future. Very impressed with what you've got Bob, and hope to review my lovely £40 shed in half term as the shed is currently under construction I believe. The money for this, is coming from the sales of my foam underlay stuff which all 25m of the stuff is going to 'DB SCHENKER 37' for £40 :) Alls well ends well.

Mmmm. Not quite what I'd hoped. :(

The card appears to be water resistant, certainly no warping and the brick print has not run, but there has been some capillary action from the wet grass which has stained the brickwork.

I'll add some longer grass and weeds to hide the discolouration on this building but, for future reference, it may be possible to stop this discolouration by using matt varnish before applying the diluted PVA though it's probably better avoided by using the "scatter sprinkled on wet paint" method when laying grass around the base of the buildings.
