Hi guys,
My son has a Hornby Select, and my question is:-
How do you decide what address to use for your loco's?
He is into the original owners of the ECML [as you well know
Richard!] and herein lies the problem, with only 2 digits to
use, do you use part of the number. Or, do you use a mix
[ eg a=1, b=2, c=3, etc], this also is limited to the first 9/10
letters, which makes it hard with a V or L class etc.
I just thought you could use the numbers like they are on
a keypad, [2=abc, 3=def, etc] but this is also limited.
Suggestions on the back of a postcard please, Jeff

For the Hornby select, I usually either put the class in (such as a class 47) or the last two digits.

Failing that, if it's only just a few engines then a better idea is to make a small list of the engines and the numbers.
Two columns and that's it. Name/Locomotive and the assigned number :)

That's the way I do some of mine anyway.

Im boring and do it in order. First loco I got was 1, most recent is 18 :P that gets confusing after a while.

just to note, you can only give locos addresses from 1 to 50. 51 to 99 are for accessories.

Firstly, Richard, the problem is that the LNER used letters
and numbers for classes [V2, L1, B17 etc]
Secondly, Javelin, I know, and that creates a problem if
you try to be logical [J83, J72 etc]

Hornby, thinking about those with who programme their stock logically... not.

Hornby don't think logically. They only think money these days

Jeff, my best advise would be with the select just have a standard "1=flying scotsman. 2=J72" etc

Or take two numbers from the loco. E.g. 4472 = 44
