With Safir Group, I'm with a friend of mine who works on the site and it runs off his server but I pay for my section of it which isn't that much at all (less than £10 a year).
Depends what kind of site you want I guess as well. Just don't go for any of the "free web hosting here" bollocks like freewebs, webs, pixzo (what ever it's called...) and so on. not worth the hassle. They are rubbish.
Go for something better, and you'll get more out of it
